A charity organisation will be celebrating the fantastic work done by Manchester’s charities, community groups and voluntary organisations in October with the 2016 ‘Spirit of Manchester Festival’.
Macc, a charity which provides support to Manchester’s voluntary and community sector, will be running this year’s festival from 1-10 October, the centrepiece of which will be the ‘Spirit of Manchester Awards’ on 6 October.
In 2013, Macc’s “State of the Sector” research revealed there are some 3093 voluntary and community sector organisations in the city of Manchester employing 12,400 staff alongside 94,300 volunteers.
Mike Wild, Chief Executive of Macc, said: “There’s a wealth of talent, passion and energy in hundreds of groups and organisations working in local communities.
“These are the groups who support the most vulnerable and marginalised and also they’re part of the fabric of the city running after-school clubs, sports groups and lots of the social and cultural activities in Manchester.
“Every year, we find out about more wonderful local groups and projects”.
