A 71-year-old man who was found with stab wounds in Ashton is recovering in hospital.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were called to an address on Mossley Road, Ashton-Under-Lyne on the morning of 13 April following reports that a male had been stabbed.
The victim was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary for treatment where he remains in a stable condition. A woman at the address was also taken to hospital, having become unwell.
GMP’s Detective Inspector Richard Ennis said: “There has understandably been much concern in the community about this case, but I would like to make clear that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.
“There has been a thorough investigation by a team of detectives led by myself, and we do not believe there to be any third party involvement. We continue to support the family.
“The woman was taken to Tameside General Hospital as a result of a medical episode likely brought on by seeing this man’s injuries and is in a stable condition in hospital.”
