Afrobeats superstar D’banj is mourning the death of his only child following an apparent drowning accident in Lagos, Nigeria.
Daniel Oyebanjo III is said to have drowned at a pool in the singer’s residence in Ikoyi, Lagos on 24 June, Pulse Nigeria reports.
Taking to Instagram, the 38-year-old Nigerian star, born Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, revealed his devastation by sharing a black post, along with the caption: ‘Trying Times 💔🖤. But my God is Always and Forever Faithful 🙏.’

D’banj had traveled to Los Angeles the day before the incident occurred and was due to attend 2018 BET Awards.
It was a bitter sweet night for fellow Afrobeats star Davido, who acknowledged the tragedy as he collected the Best International Act award.
He also credited D’Banj for paving the way for African artists to enjoy mainstream success.
‘Before I go on I want to send condolences to my big brother, the actual artist that pave the way for us to be on this stage, D’Banj,’ he said during his acceptance speech. ‘My condolences I wish you.’
