Couple’s elegant wedding ceremony in Manchester Monastery
Inspirational local couple, Anthony and Dorretta Hampson got married today, in a ceremony punctuated by elegance and a warm gleaming crowd of close friends and family members.
The couple’s big day took place at the Gorton Monastery, which provided the perfect setting to mark the special day.
With natural light from the high ceiling’s large panes flooding through to a décor befitting of a traditional fairy tale, Anthony and Dorretta’s ceremony breathed new meaning to the term ‘perfect’.
As some guests got teary-eyed, others calmly but gleefully photographed and filmed the hallmark of their wedding ceremony – the traditional exchanging of vows.
Contained in these vows were sincere intentions for a married life filled with devotion and love, as the pair looked deeply into each other’s eyes, before the ring-exchanges and the following kiss. It was ephemeral – you literally had to be present to have witnessed the sheer inexplicable beauty of the moment.
Anthony, got in touch with The Nubian Times prior to his and Dorretta’s big day to inform and invite us to their treasured day. At the time, he wanted to tell us more about his wife-to-be who he believes – as do we- is an inspirational woman worth publicising.
He said, “Dorretta was one of the three who headed up the start of CARISMA – Community Alliance for Renewal, Inner South Manchester Area. She hosted its first Peace Week and spoke at the memorial of the young lives lost during the first barrage of gun crime in Manchester.
“She campaigned for the start of the Manchester Moss Side and Hulme Independent Advisory Group, to monitor policing in the community where she sat as Vice Chair.
“Subsequently, she voiced the need for sports and fitness to be spread among our cities and hosted many events.
“She volunteers her time to multiple causes around her community to instil pride, uplift and motivate people.
“Focusing on young girls, she ran a class at the Zion Arts Centre giving them schooling in etiquette and self-worth. She also ran a modelling school to boost young people’s confidence where she encouraged interview and speech techniques.
“All this she does in her own time and for free. She is always giving caring and putting others first.
“She always says we are the ideas behind greatness, it’s not all the time you lead but you start it get the right people in place and watch them blossom”.
‘Love has no colour or age’
Anthony went informed us of how he is “a self-employed plumber” whose “work takes me far and wide”.
He adds that he “believes in giving back to our community and that’s how myself and my darling Dorretta live our life.
“We are both in our 50’s and romance is very much alive and we are a mixed couple proving that love has no colour and age has no limits”.
TNT would like to wish Anthony and Dorretta a prosperous marriage filled with love and happiness.
Congratulations to you both!
