Appeal for witnesses after City Centre stabbing

An appeal for witnesses has been launched after two men were stabbed at the junction of Queens Street and Deansgate in the early hours of last Monday morning.

Police were called to the scene just before 4:35am on Monday 30 May, where two men had been stabbed following a fight between two groups outside the Press Club on Queens Street.

A 29-year-old man and a 26-year-old man were taken to hospital and treated for stab wounds to the abdomen, and are in a stable condition.

Detective Inspector Adrian Gallagher of City of Manchester Team said: “We have been carrying out significant enquiries to establish what exactly has happened here that has led to two men lying seriously injured in hospital.
“Initial reports have suggested that there was some sort of violent altercation a short time prior to police being called.”

Police believe a fight had occurred between two groups outside the Press Club, on what was a bank holiday weekend, and have urged any witnesses who may been out that night to contact them.
