Police are appealing for information and witnesses after armed robbers stormed in to a club in Fallowfield.
At around 00.20am on Monday 1 February four men wearing hooded jackets and ski masks, who were carrying a baseball bat and a claw hammer, burst in to the foyer of St Kentigerns Club on Wilbraham Road.
After entering the premises, the men started to threaten a member of staff and demanded the keys to the safe, but the staff member refused to hand the keys over. The intruders then proceeded to hit the man with the baseball bat and hammer causing him to fall to the floor, before kicking him.
No access was gained to the safe however the perpetrators did steal a women’s wages from her handbag before exiting. The four men then headed in the direction of Eden Court, which leads on to Hart Road in Fallowfield.
Detective Constable Lucy Barnes has stated “Thankfully the man was not more seriously hurt by these men who used violence in an attempt to get what they wanted. We would ask if anyone has information about who was involved or if anyone saw a group of men in the area around the time of the offence to get in contact”.
Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 6151, or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
