Armed men attempted to steal cash from a post office in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has confirmed.
Carrying weapons, three offenders ran into Peel Hall post office on Peel Hall Road, at around 2.30pm on Wednesday 6 January 2015. They threatened staff and demanded cash.
The staff members managed to lock themselves in a room at the back of the shop. The offenders banged on the door demanding cash, and made threats to a customer before leaving the shop.
They left empty handed and drove away in a black Mazda which had been stolen from the Sale area in December 2015. It was later found abandoned at the junction of Croftlands Road and Mayfair Road.
GMP is appealing for information and witnesses.
“This appalling crime occurred during a busy time at a popular, small retail area. Fortunately no-one was injured, but the incident left the staff and customers in the shop at the time shocked. I would urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the police”, Investigating officer, Detective Constable Tony Calvert said.
