A man briefly engaged her in conversation before he threatened and raped her.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape, and has been bailed until 4 February 2016, pending further enquiries.
“The community have understandably been concerned about the incident however I hope they are reassured the investigation is progressing. Although an arrest has been made, I would still appeal for those with information to come forward and contact us as soon as possible”, Detective Sergeant Pete Carletti said.
“I would ask anyone who is going out and enjoying this festive period to plan how they intend to get home and ensure they do not travel alone”, he concluded.
