Funk and Soul veterans, Average White Band, visit Manchester’s O2 Ritz tonight in the penultimate UK stop of their world tour.
The band, hailing from the unlikely highlands of Dundee, Scotland, shook the 70s US funk scene when they emerged with debut album, Show Your Hands, in 1973.
After signing for Atlantic Records, the 7-piece attracted the support of ‘The Godfather of Soul’, James Brown; solidifying their reputation as certified funk artists in an industry otherwise dominated by black musicians.
Their iconic groove-driven sound has kept crowds dancing for decades, and now it’s Manchester’s turn.
