As if H&M – the Swedish multinational retail-clothing company – needed more marketing icons apart from global star David Beckham (Becks), the company has only gone and recruited another sensational name.
Yes, you may have heard it through the grapevine or seen the images and videos; actor and comedian Kevin Hart has teamed up with Becks in a new funny, intelligent and unique campaign video for H&M.
The film, which has been unveiled in full and is available to view on H&M’s YouTube channel, is actually pretty long for an advert – it’s six minutes and thirty seconds, but in it you can see Becks and Kev trade a few quick-witted lines.
Speaking after filming the ad, Becks said “Kevin Hart is one of the funniest, smartest guys around. I love to do the unexpected for my H&M campaigns. I hope everyone enjoys watching it as much as I did making it.”
Hart said, however, David was quite the diva on set. “He told me not to screw it up and he wished I was taller”. Overall, Hart thought it was “very easy” to play Becks because “the thing that David and I have in common is sexiness. It comes naturally to me”.
When asked whether he learnt anything about himself after watching Kevin play him, the father-of-four said, “It’s always an interesting experience to see someone else’s view of how you are. I guess I’m not aware of having a particular pose or look, I’m just being myself. So it’s funny to see that my actions and the way I move are also part of my character. I’ve always thought it was important to not take yourself too seriously, and this campaign is the perfect chance to show why”
The film is part of the campaign for the brand’s ‘Modern Essentials selected by David Beckham’ collection, which landed in stores and online on 1 October.
