Black cab app causing price wars with £5 fare

A black cab app that offers £5 fares from Manchester’s city centre to Old Trafford, Fallowfield and parts of Salford is the new addition to the taxi price wars in the city.

Get Taxi has promised its customers they will pay no more than a fiver travelling from Manchester in one of their 220 cabs. The move has automatically landed them in steep competition with the much talk-about Uber and Hailo apps.

Having launched about five years ago, the £5 fare seems eponymously commemorating the length of time the company has been open. The company hasn’t set an end date for the offer, and is hoping to grab a lot of customers from other mobile taxi apps with this attractive offer.

The mobile taxi apps all operate by serving the clients registered to them, and can summon the taxis using their phone, paying automatically from their bank accounts too.

CEO of GetTaxi UK, Remo Gerber said that “We want to let everyone in the centre of Manchester know that they can take a cab ride for just £5, so they can experience the safe and reliable service of black taxis”.

Gerber further explained that by introducing “these amazing flat and fixed prices, we’re giving consumers a reason to choose black taxis over minicabs, not to mention all of our drivers are fully licensed and CRB checked”.

To be in a position to take up their offer, you must download the Get Taxi app and register a payment card as well.

A reason to cheer home in comfort, after a city centre drink, we say.
