Body found after fire in Chorlton

A body was recently found on 2 December 2016 after a fire occurred in Chorlton Cum Hardy.

Shortly after 6.45am police were called to reports of a fire inside and outside a building on Barlow Terrace. When officers arrived on the scene they discovered a body.

Officers are now investigating the fire and are working with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue service. Both are working to establish the circumstances of the fire. Addititionally, they are also working to identify the body.

GMP says this is a ‘terrible set of circumstances’ which has resulted in the tragic loss of life.

Police are investigating how the fire started and are appealing for information from the local community.

The news of the fire and discovery of the body has stunned locals. Anyone who has any information about this incident is urged to contact Greater Manchester Police.
