Seven men and a boy have been arrested after a firearms incident in South Manchester.
On Wednesday 31 August 2016, at around 12.35am, police were called to reports of a group of people acting suspiciously in a vehicle on Walford Street, Manchester.
Officers attended and a firearm, a device believed to be a Taser and a knife were recovered in the nearby area.
Seven men aged 18, 19, 19, 20, 24, 24, 25 and a boy aged 14 have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm in connection with the incident. They remain in police custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Victoria Kenyon of GMP’s City of Manchester Team, said: “The officers’ quick response to the incident has prevented what could have led to a potentially serious incident.
“We have eight people in custody who are being questioned by detectives.
“I’m urging anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious at the time of the incident to come forward”.
