The “Caribbean carnival of Manchester” may be its official ‘government’ name, but the Manchester carnival can now go back to being known locally as Moss Side carnival as it returns to its spiritual home at Alexandra Park in the heart of Moss Side this year.
Not only is the carnival coming home but it is being held in the more traditional month of August, meaning less chance of a clash with any of Manchester’s other much-loved community festivals such as Mega Mela, Manchester Day parade or Parklife.
The carnival will hopefully no longer be overshadowed or outcast as it has been for the last few years.
With the refurbishment of Alexandra Park complete, this is the perfect opportunity for tax-payers to see where their money has gone.
Why not get yourself down to Alexandra Park from Saturday 8 August for a whole weekend of Caribbean carnival with a calypso theme!
