Police are appealing for witnesses after a cash box was stolen from an Asda in Wigan in an armed robbery. At around 8.05am on the 23rd of October a cash transit delivery driver was undertaking a scheduled drop-off at Asda on Soho Street, Wigan, when a man threatened her with a knife. Having snatched the cash box, the offender got in to a blue saloon car, possibly a Renault Laguna that had a partial registration of DG55, and drove towards Saddle Junction.
At about 9.25am a member of the public found a cash box within Haigh Country Park, close to Sennicar Lane, it is believed that this could be the stolen cash box. The offender is described as a 5ft 7in white man of average build and he was allegedly wearing a black balaclava, grey tracksuit bottoms and a dark coloured jacket edged in red.
Detective Sergeant Nigel Rigby said “We need members of the public to come forward and give us details of what they may have seen at the Asda on Soho Street this morning. Likewise if anyone was walking in Haigh Country Park this morning and saw this blue saloon or anyone acting suspiciously, please contact police as a matter of urgency”.
