Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has released CCTV footage in efforts to establish how a man was injured in Ancoats.
Shortly after 1.33am on 3 December 2016 police were called to Oldham Street. It was reported that a man had a head injury.
The 37-year-old victim was walking near Frog and Bucket Comedy Club on the junction of Oldham Street and Great Ancoats. A number of taxis passed him.
The victim then fell backwards and hit his head on the footpath. He was taken to hospital with a significant head injury and remains in a critical condition.
Officers have now released CCTV footage in hopes that someone might recognise the incident and remember what happened.
Police say that they are trying to find out what happened to the 37-year-old. Police have examined CCTV footage. They say it is ‘unclear’ whether the man was involved in a collision with one of the passing taxis.
GMP is appealing to members of the local community. They ask for those who were in the area at the time to contact police.
GMP would also like to speak to taxi drivers who passed the victim or were in the area at the time. They could hold vital information.
GMP hope that the news of the CCTV footage will alert people of the incident and they will contact police.
Anyone with any information should call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4745. They should quote incident number 235 of 3 December 2016.
