Police investigating a violent attack in Manchester city centre have released further CCTV footage.
At around 6.30am, on Saturday 15 October 2016, police were called to Market Street – near to Tesco. It was reported that a 58-year-old man had been assaulted.
The attacker had become involved in an altercation with the man. The 58-year-old was hit on the head with a crutch and stamped on the head. The attacker also swung the crutch at a passer-by.
The victim is still recovering in hospital after receiving treatment for life changing injuries.
Officers have released further CCTV footage from the night, which shows a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.
Greater Manchester Police’s Paul Wilde said, the attack has ‘not only left the victim blinded’ but has resulted in ‘psychological scarring’. The violent attack will take the victim a long time to recover from.
GMP hopes that by releasing the footage, people’s memories will be ‘jogged’. It is hoped that someone will recognise the man in the CCTV so that justice can be served.
GMP is appealing for witnesses or those with information to get contact with them.
