CCTV image released following Salford sexual assault

In a bid to identify a suspect, police have released a CCTV image following a sexual assault in Salford.

Shortly before 1pm on Monday 6 February 2017, a 21-year-old woman was approached by a teenage boy. This event took place on Milton Court, Bury Old Road.

He asked directions in an attempt to engage her in conversation. He then proceeded to sexually assault her. The victim pushed him away and fled the scene.

The offender is described to be white and between the ages of 14 and 15 years old. He is said to be approximately 5ft 2in tall with short brown hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black jacket, black trousers, and a white shirt. He was also riding a bicycle.

Police have released the image in the hopes of identifying a youth who they wish to speak to.

Constable Christopher Jackson, of GMP’s Salford Borough, said: “This shocking incident has left an innocent member of the community feeling shaken and vulnerable.

“This appalling behaviour has no place on the streets of Greater Manchester and it is vital that we track this individual down to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Police are urging any witnesses of the assault, or anyone who recognises the youth, to get in contact.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting reference number 0979 of 06/02/17. The public can also contact independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
