Chelsea fans filmed singing ‘Mohamed Salah is a bomber’

A group of Chelsea fans have been filmed singing an offensive song in which they called Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah ‘a bomber’.

The group of supporters were filmed singing the Islamophobic chant before Chelsea’s Europa League match against Slavia Prague on Thursday 11 April.

Kick It Out released a statement about the video, before Chelsea confirmed they had identified the supporters in the video.

‘It’s not on the terraces but it is still a disgrace,’ the organisation said.

‘We do not want fans like that anywhere near our game. ‘We will be liaising with Chelsea Football Club to ensure those involved are identified and punished swiftly and effectively.’

Three of the six fans in the video were stopped from entering the Eden stadium in Prague to watch the Blues in action against Slavia Prague.

A statement from the club read: ‘Chelsea FC finds all forms of discriminatory behaviour abhorrent and where there is clear evidence of Chelsea season ticket holders or members involved in such behaviour, we will take the strongest possible action against them.

‘Such individuals are an embarrassment to the vast majority of Chelsea supporters who won’t tolerate them in their club.’

This is not the first time this season that racial abuse directed at Salah has been caught on camera.

During Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with West Ham in February, one fan was caught on video calling the forward a ‘f*****g Muslim c***’.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are set to face Salah and Liverpool on Sunday as they travel to Anfield.

Salah was signed by Chelsea in January 2014 but lasted just one year at Stamford Bridge before he was sent out on loan to Fiorentina.

Chelsea deiced to sell Salah to Roma in 2016 but the Egyptian spent just one season in the Italian capital before joining Liverpool in a £39 million deal.
