On Saturday the 17th of October young participants from the Community On Solid Ground youth project became the first ever winners of a new category within the Manchester Sports Awards, they earned a Gold Award after being named winners of the Youth and Community Support Project award.
The ceremony celebrated some of the outstanding and inspirational achievements of positive sporting role models and community organisations from across Manchester. The project was also a finalist at the National Diversity Awards in 2013 where they narrowly missed out on claiming the Community Organisation Award for Age.
Community On Solid Ground were recognised for their help in supporting communities across Manchester and for enabling these communities to participate in activities that develop integration, community cohesion and social inclusion. Operations Manager of the project Majid Dar said, “We feel delighted at winning Gold even though it is a great shock! It is an awesome feeling of recognition for the young people, the volunteers, the employees of COSG and people across the South of Manchester”.
