Alexandra Curry has released an adventurous novel about loyalty and sacrifice, called The Courtesan.

This is a ‘timeless’ novel about a woman who bridged the gaps between East and West during a tumultuous era.

The astonishing tale is inspired by the life of Sai Jinhua – who to this day is still a Chinese legend. Sai Jinhua lived and loved during the days of the Qing dynasty.

The year is 1881; seven-year-old Jinhua is left orphaned after her mandarin father’s summary execution.

Jinhua is sold to a brothel and ordered to work as a ‘money tree’. She is left to endure the worst. When an elegant, troubled scholar takes Jinhua as his concubine her world expands.

This is a fantastic tale of friendship, loyalty and sacrifice.
