Crime figures at all time low

New figures show that crime has fallen to a record low in England and Wales.

The quarterly figures from the Crime Survey for England and Wales, published on Thursday, found that the seven million incidents up until September 2014 was down by 11 per cent compared to the previous year.

However, there have been increases in crime according to police records of incidents there has been a 16 per cent rise in violence and a 22 per cent rise in sexual offences.

The Office for National Statistics put this down to improvements in how police were recording incidents and a greater number of people coming forward to report a crime.
