Two very different songs dedicated to a person for very different reasons this week.
First up is Ciara with new single I Bet, the first from upcoming sixth studio album Jackie.
It hasn’t been confirmed but listening probably the entire world rightly assumes speculation the song is about her baby father Future.
The couple called off their engagement not long after the birth of their son Future Zahir amid rumours that Future- real name Nayvadius Cash- cheated on the Body Party singer.
The single speaks about bitches with silicone asses and Brazilian hair and includes lyrics like:
“I bet you start loving me soon as I start loving someone else, somebody better than you.”
“I bet you start needing me soon as you see me with someone else, somebody other than you.”
Oh dear… despite the angry content, it’s a good song! It’s as if speaking about subjects close to home and her heart is what Ciara needed to produce some good R ‘n’ B as in the days of 2006 album The Evolution.
Keep it coming CeeCee!
In a more respectful light is US group G.R.L who have released their first single since the suicide of band mate Simone Battle in September 2014.
Lighthouse has been dedicated to the memory of the troubled 25-year- old, who hanged herself at her home in LA.
The video features several images and home movie footage from the late singer’s life and shows the rest of the girls – who have decided to continue as a four-piece – in an emotional embrace at the end.
