Donald Trump has got actor Don Cheadle’s back up, after a tweet that he wrote in reference to NBA player Dwyane Wade’s cousin being shot.
Dwyane Wade’s cousin, Nykea Aldridge, was shot dead in Chicago in a shooting crossfire. She was with her young baby at the time, who fortunately escaped the incident unscathed.
On Saturday 27 August, Donald Trump posted on Twitter saying, “Dwyane Wade’s cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in Chicago”. He then went on to say, “Just what I have been saying. African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP!”
In the original tweet, he misspelt Dwyane’s name, writing “Dwayne”. This was later edited.
He has consequently been accused of using the death of Nykea to push his political agenda and gain votes from African-American citizens.
Don Cheadle, who was already openly anti-Trump, was appalled by the tweet, and took to his own Twitter to air his views on the matter.
One of many tweets aimed at Trump said, “You are truly a POS”, meaning “piece of s***”. 4 minutes later Cheadle tweeted, “Sorry. I misspelled “die in a grease fire”.
After his rant, Cheadle received an abundance of criticism of his own from defenders of Trump, many of which he publically fought on the social media platform.
The latest in what seems like a never-ending number of controversial moves made by Donald Trump has caused outrage once again.
