Eddie Murphy confirmed for Twins reboot

Seems Twins is now set to become Triplets, after it was confirmed Eddie Murphy would join the reboot.

Arnold Schwarzenegger one of the original cast members, confirmed the news.

He and Danny DeVito will also reprise their roles in the comeback. Arnold confirmed the script was finalised during a panel at South by Southwest.

He also probably added something like, ‘I’ll be back’. Deadline reported Arnold confirmed the news as he added: ‘Funny thing that happens in the mixing of the sperm.’ Um. Okay.

Anyway, the original film was released in 1988 and starred both Arnold and Danny as a pair of siblings (twins, even) who reunited after they were separated at birth.

Obviously, it was a comedy, seeing as Arnold is a massive Austrian body builder, and Danny is a very short American, balding man.

Still, it became a cult classic and now it seems the studios want to cash in on its popularity. It grossed $216 million (£153 million) worldwide. The two ‘twins’ took 20% of the box office instead of their usual salaries which earned them big money.

Back in 2012, Arnold confirmed at Comic Con that the wheels were already in motion for a sequel.

Danny added he hoped the sequel would have been filmed as far back as 2013. Pundits predicted original director Ivan Reitman would jump into the passenger’s seat as producer.

Instead it’s spent six years in development and enjoyed a bit of a back and forth, but now perhaps it’s full steam ahead.

During his panel, Arnold also commented on the #MeToo movement in the wake of groping accusations while he was running for Governor.

He said: ‘I think it’s fantastic. I think women have been used and abused and treated horribly for too long’.
