Actress Janet Hubert, famously known as the original Aunt Viv from the popular 90’s show Fresh Prince of Bel Air, has recently posted a video and Facebook post slamming Jada Pinkett-Smith and her family.
The 60-year-old actress’ video and post, is in response to Jada Pinkett-Smith’s decision to boycott the Oscars after this year’s nominee list showed a lack of diversity, which included her superstar husband Will Smith not being nominated for best actor in his role in the NFL film Concussion.
Hubert on social media wrote, “Girl please, why are you always speaking for your man”. The post, which has since been deleted goes on to criticise Will Smith’s performance as Nigerian physician Dr Bennet Omalu by saying, “His accent was all over the place” and that his female co-star was “Cut to nothing to make sure she did not outshine him”.
The slander didn’t stop there however, as well as claiming the reason she was black listed from Hollywood was because of Pinket-Smith’s “Lying ass husband”. Hubert released a video in which she likened the Smith family to the very industry they are boycotting, by calling out their production company.
Hubert says, “You have a huge production company that you only produce your friends, your family, and yourself, so you are a part of Hollywood, and you are a part of the system that is unfair to other actors”.
The long standing feud between Hubert and the Smith family was established after Hubert was replaced on the very popular 90’s sit-com by a lighter-skinned actress. A decision, which she believes the star of the show at the time – Will Smith – had a say in.
What do you think? Is Hubert right to slam the Smith family for their apparent hypocrisy? Or are these just words from somebody with a score to settle?
