Man arrested at gunpoint linked to Manchester Arena attack
Following the Manchester Arena attack at an Ariana Grande concert on 22 May, a 23-year-old man has been arrested in Fallowfield.
Local residents told TNT News that Greater Manchester Police officers arrived on Elsmore Road at around 12pm on 23 May. The officers attended the address to arrest the man suspected to be linked to the suicide bombing that left 22 dead and 59 injured. Of the 22 dead, 12 of them are children.
The device detonated was a homemade device packed with nails.
Within the last hour, GMP’s Chief Constable 22-year-old Salman Abedi. He is reportedly a British man of Libyan heritage.
GMP officers are still investigating whether this was a lone attack or part of a wider network of attackers.
Throughout the day, GMP officers carried out a few arrests; one outside Manchester Arndale and another in Chorlton.
GMP police officers also executed warrants in Whalley Range, and one in Fallowfield, where a controlled explosion took place, as part of the investigation into last night’s horrific attack at the Manchester arena.
GMP are working along with MI5 and Interpol to monitor and assess the incident and those linked to the attack. They are also working with local authorities and the public to maintain security and return to some sense of normality in the city.
