The family of a man murdered in Moss Side in May, have paid a tribute to him.

On Thursday 12 May 2016, around 5.15pm police were called to Moss Lane East, where 18-year-old Abdul Wahab Hafidah had suffered a number of serious injuries.

Abdul was taken to hospital with stab wounds to the neck and abdominal injuries, however sadly died on Saturday.

Police believe he was chased near to Greenheys Lane in Moss Side by a group of men. A little while later, he was involved in a collision with a blue Vauxhall Corsa on Moss Lane East, before being stabbed. The Corsa was later recovered on a small road off Athol Road in Whalley Range.

The late teenager’s family have paid him the following tribute: “This has been the most difficult time in our lives, and no matter how much you prepare for death and calamities to befall on you, losing a loved one is a pain that is so insidious in nature that only Allah with his infinite mercy can give us patience.

“Someone that formed part of your anatomy for nine months, and someone you raised and watched grow every single day. Someone you taught how to walk and talk. Someone you showed how to love makes this the worst thing that can ever happen to anyone.

“Abdul was a composed and caring son, who bought us all so much joy. You felt his presence when he was there and you missed it whenever he wasn’t. His strength was in his loyalty to his family and friends, and honesty whenever he spoke.

“From now on what we hold on to is the beautifully orchestrated memories of things he’s said, places we’ve been to together and how special he made us all feel.

“To every young person, spend time with your parents and treat them well. Think about the kind of community you want to grow in; don’t be cynical about the prospect of changing them for the better.

“Our trust is in our God [Allah] before all, but we thank the firemen, hospital staff, paramedics, and investigators, who have all helped in this difficult time and continue to support us. We are confident that those responsible will be brought to justice because we will bring together all our resources to ensure that justice prevails”.
