The family of 28-year-old Michael Blake – who was shot in Westhoughton – have paid tribute to him following his death.
At around 11:10pm on Thursday 3 November 2016, police were called to Manchester Road, Westhoughton following a report about a collision.
When officers arrived at the scene they found the victim with gunshot wounds to his leg and the back of his head. Michael was taken to hospital in a life threatening condition but sadly died the next morning. Michael leaves behind his brothers, mother, partner and young daughter.
Michael’s family have paid tribute to him: “Michael was a wonderful son, brother, friend and father, who would do anything for anyone”. The family are also appealing for information and are ‘devastated’ by the way Michael has ‘been cruelly taken’ from them. They would like for anyone with any information to come forward and speak to the Police.
Greater Manchester Police are investigating the murder and have also appealed for witnesses to come forward.
Witnesses that have come forward say they saw Michael get into a light coloured van shortly before he was shot. GMP is now searching for the van and would like to speak to anyone who may have seen it in the area around the time that Michael was shot.
GMP says that they are ‘determined’ to give the family ‘the answers they deserve’.
Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident number 2426 of 03/11/16, or Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
