“Trap Queen” rapper Fetty Wap and reality TV star girlfriend Masika Kalysha both posted photos of their daughter on social media last month, warming the hearts of thousands of fans.
Their daughter, Khari Barbie Maxwell, was born 30 March this year, weighing in at 7lbs 1oz. Her name means ‘queenly’ and ‘joyful’ in Swahili.
Fetty Wap – real name Willie Waxmell II – captioned the photo on Twitter: “Blue eyes for Khari [heart emoji] Grey eyes for Zaza”. His on-off-again girlfriend, the 31-year-old actress and model, also posted the same image on Instagram with the caption “Little Miss Maxwell”.
Despite the positive support from fans, some Twitter and Instagram users alike took to social media to cast their doubts on the paternity of the little girl.
One Twitter user, @WestCoastNia, commented “@fettywap pretty baby, but I’d be getting a DNA [test] immediately”.
An Instagram user, @delicious_kandy20 also commented “That’s a white man’s baby”.
Masika quickly responded to the negative comments with a strongly worded tweet: “Talk about me all you want but talk about my child and die. That’s it. No warning, just die”.
Despite the negativity surrounding the images, both Fetty Wap and Masika remain elated over their daughter – and often use social media to express the joys of parenthood.
