Fire-fighters arrived at Old Trafford stadium after a fire broke out at Sir Bobby Charlton Stand.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) was called out on 30 January 2017 after an electrical fault caused a small blaze. People witnessed smoke coming from the south stand and reported that they heard the alarms going off.
The club reported that there were no injuries and there was minimal damage to the stadium. It is thought that a faulty lift motor caused the fire. GMFRS arrived on the scene at 8.30am and were able to extinguish the fire, leaving within 15 minutes.
The incident caused a ‘tower of dark fumes’ to rise, this was noticed by eyewitnesses during rush-hour.
