First look at all-black cast of ‘The Birth of a Nation’

Nate Parker a.k.a the man sometimes referred to as ‘that fine-a** man from Red Tails’, is making a movie about Nat Turner’s rebellion – The Birth of a Nation.

Nat Turner was an African-American slave who led a slave rebellion of slaves and free blacks in Southampton County, Virginia on August 21, 1831 that resulted in 60 white deaths.

Due to be released this year, The Birth of a Nation’s line-up of cast members has been announced and is an all star-studded black cast.

The Nat Turner biopic both written and directed by 36-year-old Nate Parker, is a film many have been eagerly waiting for. It is the reported to premiere at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.

Making it on the cast will be Nate Parker himself as Nat Turner with Gabrielle Union as his wife, Esther. Aunjanue Ellis, Coleman Domingo, Roger Guenveur Smith, Dwight Henry, Aja Naomi King and Jeryl Prescott are all going to be making their appearances in the film too.
