First look at remake of The Lion King

Disney has released a first look at their remake of The Lion King.

The footage, which lasts for over a minute, is an almost shot-for-shot remake of an iconic scene from the studio’s classic animation.

Mufasa – once again voiced by James Earl Jones – offers the same “Everything the light touches is our kingdom” speech to Simba, who will be voiced by Donald Glover. Watch above.

The cast also includes Beyonce as the lioness Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumba, Billy Eichner as Timon, and John Oliver as Zazu.

Alfre Woodard voices Sarari, while Eric Andre, Florence Kasumba and Keegan-Michael Key voice Scar’s three spotted hyena henchmen. Young Simba and Nala will be played by up and coming actors JD McCrary and Shahadi Wright Joseph.

The film will follow in the line of successful live-action remakes, including Beauty and the Beast and The Jungle Book, the latter of which was directed by Jon Favreau. He will also helm The Lion King reboot.
