Los Angeles perfumery Xyrena has released a fragrance as a tribute to the late performer Aaliyah, who was known as ‘The Princess of R&B’. The fragrance, which has been named ‘Aaliyah’, was developed under the direction of Aaliyah’s mother and brother Diane and Rashad Haughton. The fragrance comes 14 years after the singer’s tragic passing.
Xyrena have been able to craft a truly aromatic tribute inspired by fragrances that Aaliyah actually wore herself, as a result of consulting with her family. The fragrance has been produced as a unisex product however it has a distinctively masculine aroma as Aaliyah favoured manly scents, in line with her signature sexy tomboy image. The formula is also a shade of black, which was her favourite colour.
‘Aaliyah’ has base notes of sandalwood, amber, vanilla and jasmine whilst the middle notes consist of violet, black pepper and leather and the top notes include
lavender, mint and mandarin. Chief Executive Officer of Xyrena Killian Wells has been commenting upon the decadence of the fragrance, she stated, “I grew up with Aaliyah’s music. As a huge fan, this is a very personal release for me and my company. We set out to create a fragrance to be cherished by Aaliyah’s fans and to also introduce her to a new generation”.
Xyrena will donate 5% of the gross sales from the fragrance to The Aaliyah Memorial Fund.
