On Friday 21 October, a man from Stockport was jailed following a child sexual exploitation hearing.
27-year-old Jamie O’Rourke pleaded guilty to eight counts sexual activity and two counts of voyeurism – which landed him with a 7 years, 6 month prison sentence.
His crimes took place in the Stockport and Rochdale areas and all involved sexually exploiting teenage girls.
In 2014 he was caught spying on young girls getting changed at a swimming baths in Stockport, by looking under the cubicles.
He was then arrested in 2016 for an offence against a 15-year-old in Stockport. Following this, further investigations unearthed that Rourke had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl between November 2015 and February 2016.
Detective Chief Inspector John Harris from the Rochdale division said: “Firstly, I want to commend the victims for supporting our investigations, during what has been a difficult time. With their help, we have been able to ensure O’Rourke is behind bars and cannot prey on any more young girls.
“I also want to praise the excellent work of the Sunrise Team and officers in Stockport, who were dedicated to getting justice for O’Rourke’s victims.
“I hope this result demonstrates our commitment to getting justice for victims of child sexual exploitation”.
