A 66-year-old paedophile who raped and sexually assaulted five young girls over the course of a decade has been jailed.
Luis Moreno, of Hulme, was found guilty at Manchester Crown Court of nine counts of rape and 11 counts of indecent assault. He was jailed on Wednesday 9 December 2015.
From 1994 until 2004, Moreno targeted a number of young girls at his house in Hulme, the court heard. In this time he abused five girls, the youngest being just seven years old when the abuse started.
After befriending the mothers of several of the victims, Moreno would encourage the young girls to come round to his house to watch television and DVDs.
While they were at the house, he would systematically abuse and rape the girls, sometimes while others were waiting outside the door.
At court one of the victims outlined being raped 40 times a year.
Detective Constable Mark Watson said, “The catalogue of his abuse is sickening and his charge sheet is one of the largest I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.
“I cannot imagine what these young girls must have been through and I have no doubt that Manchester is a safer place as a result of this reprehensible man being behind bars”.
