British stars Idris Elba and Stormzy dressed up as Santa as they presented gifts to children at an east London hospital.
The Luther star and grime MC wore the classic Christmas outfit paired with a signature white beard. Photos emerged on social media of their day at Whipps Cross and Newham hospitals.
The pair made their way around the wards and posed for selfies with the patients as they handed out some early Christmas presents.
They also took photos with several members of staff before fooling around in the play area with an ‘elf’.
According to the Evening Standard, Elba – who was raised in Newham – said he wanted to “bring a smile to the children who are unwell”.
“I always wanted to give back in this way, to children’s hospitals,” said the Molly’s Game actor.
“With a 15-year-old daughter and three-year-old son myself, I can only imagine the anguish and maybe even fear these children and their parents are experiencing. This visit was just a moment for me to hopefully bring a smile to the children who are unwell, in hospital and away from the comfort of their homes during the Christmas period.”
20-month-old Derek Duncan was one of the youngsters who got to meet the stars and his dad said, “What a surprise! Great to see two mega stars taking time out to dress up as Santa and bringing gifts for our son – a treasured memory. Thank you Newham Hospital.”
The children and their families were “utterly thrilled” to have them.
“I couldn’t love this anymore”, Jen O’Sullivan, family member of one of the children tweeted. “Thank you so much, the kids where utterly thrilled. You’ve made a huge impression on them, and absolutely helped make a hospital admission better for them. Thank you all.”
