Investigation launched after woman raped in Trafford

An investigation has been launched after a woman was raped in Trafford.

Shortly after 12pm on Tuesday 4 #April 2017 police received a report of a #rape. According to reports the #assault had taken place sometime between 3.10am and 3.15am that #morning.

The woman was walking to the shop along Chester Road and saw a man smoking and asked for a cigarette. The man said he would only share it with her if she walked to #OldTrafford #Metrolink #station.

The pair walked along Warwick Road together. He proceeded to cross the road and beckoned the #woman into the #car #park at Warwick House.

When she refused, the man dragged her into the car park and raped her.

He is described as Asian, short black hair and stubble, about 5ft 6ins or slightly shorter. He is also described to be in his early 40s, and of slim build. He was wearing a black leather jacket and jeans and spoke with a #Manchester accent.

#Detective Inspector Carl Gilbert, of #GMP’s #Trafford borough, said: “This is an absolutely shocking #incident and one that is sure to cause much concern to anybody who hears about what has happened.
