Invitation to the celebration of life for Martyn Hett on behalf of his famiy
The family of a man who was killed in the Manchester Arena bombing on 22 May has invited the public to his funeral. 29-year-old Martyn Hett was one of the 22 people killed in the attack which left dozens injured.
Following a family tribute, his family have released information of where the funeral will take place.
“The funeral of our inspirational son Martyn Hett will take place from 12 noon on Friday 30 June 2017”, they said. The memorial will take place “at Stockport Town Hall with the service commencing at 12.30pm”, the family said.
“Whilst the Town Hall itself may not hold everyone, we’ve made provision for the service to be live screened outside”.
It will be screened “on the adjoining Plaza to allow everyone to participate in this event”.
“As a family, we wish to invite anybody who would like to attend to celebrate Martyn’s life.
“We respectfully ask for privacy once the service has concluded.
“Only people who have been formally invited attend both the cremation and wake which will be family and close friends.
“We also kindly ask for family flowers only and request that any memorial donations are given to the following charities:
– Kidscan Childrens Cancer Charity

Family tribute: ‘The icon of all our lives’
Paying tribute to Martyn, his family also released a statement days after the attack.
“At 10.33pm on Monday 22 May 2017, our beloved son Martyn just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.
“Words cannot describe the generosity and kindness our families have received over the last few days.
“We are overwhelmed with the amount of lives he has touched and the kind words that are being said about him.
“Martyn was the icon of all our lives. His infectious laugh and his niche sense of humour will stay with us forever.
“He lived for every moment of every day and fitted an entire lifetime of memories into his 29 years.
“Whilst they have taken the life out of Martyn, no one can, and ever will, take Martyn out of our lives”.
