Jogging woman assaulted in Stockport

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) is investigating after a woman was grabbed as she was jogging in a park in Stockport.

At around 7.30pm on Wednesday 16 December 2015, the 33-year-old was jogging through Woodbank Park, Offerton when the incident took place.

As she approached the exit near the car park, she heard footsteps behind her, before someone grabbed her from behind, putting their hand over her mouth.

Both fell to the floor, and there was a struggle before she managed to break free and run off.

GMP has released an e-fit image of the attacker and are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Speaking after GMP were alerted about the incident, Detective Sergeant Matt Berry said: “The man is described as being white, in his 20s, around 5ft 10in tall, wearing a dark grey hat, dark-hooded top and jogging bottoms, and I would ask anyone who may have seen this man to call us.

“I would also appeal to those who may have seen a man acting suspiciously in the area or anyone who feels they may have been approached by him to get in touch”.
