Just Psychology looking to bridge cultural gaps

Just Psychology: ‘Would you like to help us understand your culture?’

The UK community is made up of people from various cultural backgrounds.  However, they often do not use health, social care and education services because they think that the workers do not understand their culture and their needs.

On the other hand, many professionals do not feel they know enough about how to work with people from different cultural backgrounds. People do not get the help they need, and public money is wasted on giving them the wrong advice or treatment, according to not-for-profit social enterprise Just Psychology CIC.

Cultural Consultants use their knowledge about their own communities to act as a bridge between professionals and adults/families.

Increasing understanding between cultures creates stronger and more active communities. This aids the addressing of issues that lead to inequalities, whilst counteracting the hate and mistrust often perpetrated through the media, Just Psychology adds.

Just Psychology is a multidisciplinary group of professionals providing services to address the psychological and mental health needs of children, adults and families. This is facilitated by an emphasis on cultural diversity, cultural competence and social justice.

Just Psychology are looking to recruit cultural consultants from Somali, Chinese and Eastern European backgrounds. For more info please contact info@justpsychology.co.uk and find out more about the role and the organisation’s information sessions.
