Kanye West to run for 2024 presidency

Kanye West has said he is serious about a run for the presidency, but that it will not happen until 2024.

“If I decide to do it, it will be done, I’m not going to try,” the rapper and fashion designer said in a radio interview with Power 92 Chicago’s DJ Pharris, adding: “Yes, 100 per cent it could happen… 2024.”

West first announced plans for a White House bid during an appearance at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.

“I have decided in 2020 to run for president,” he declared at the time.

“One of my main things once I’m president is the medical industry. I’m going to make sure that the medical industry flourishes,” West said on Thursday.

“There’s one thing I learned by hanging around with Jay-Z, and being married to my wife, is you can’t f*** up the paper (money). That’s the problem with a lot of the radical leaders in the past.”

He added: “I’m not going in, when I become president, to f*** up the paper, because I tell you what? Trump ain’t f***ing up the paper. Those jobs are up, those taxes are being saved.”

West said he would cast himself as a centrist in any future political bid, saying he “had love” for both US president Donald Trump and left wing senator Bernie Sanders.

“For someone to say you can’t ride with both sides… it’s like a modern idea of gang banging or something,” he said. “Even red or blue — it’s still red or blue. It’s divisions. We don’t need to think in divisions. We need to think in arms because we’re actually one race, one people, one civilization.”

The hip hop artist, who is married to reality TV star Kim Kardashian, made headlines earlier this year after showing support for Mr Trump and being photographed in a baseball hat emblazoned with the president’s slogan, “Make America Great Again”.
