L&R Roadlines, one of the UK’s road marking and surface treatments contractors, took part in Hungerford Road Primary Academy’s careers day. Which took place in Crewe. The event was part of the Crewe Pledge. A scheme that forges closer links between young people in education and employers.
The company delivered 20 minute workshop to ten groups. Each comprising up to six children, throughout the event. The workshops discussed the science behind the thermoplastic materials used for the latest road marking solutions. And reviewed the final products, including cat’s eyes, and the safety benefits they bring to our roads. The importance of personal protection equipment (PPE) was discussed. Each group participated in a session showing how to use measuring wheels. L&R Roadlines also talked about career opportunities in the industry and the available education and apprenticeship options.
According to Lisa Shakeshaft, Commercial Manager: “Hungerford children are a credit to the school. It was a privilege to have this opportunity to meet them. Events such as this play an important role in raising the aspirations of our young people.”
More than 120 South Cheshire businesses are now signed up to The Crewe Pledge. Demonstrating their commitment to creating opportunities for the town’s school and college leavers.
