A teaser trailer of the latest instalment of gritty British detective series ‘Luther’, starring Golden-Globe winning actor Idris Elba, has been released.
So the good news is Luther is back. The bad news is, it’s only for a two-part special. Well, despite being back for a BBC One two-part special on 15 December, the brief return is actually worth shouting and screaming about.
The BBC has released a one-minute trailer and a tiny 10-second clip was tweeted by Elba, in which we see the detective ask: “You scared of me? You should be”.
Series creator Neil Cross and director Sam Miller have come together to write and direct the Christmas special, despite widespread belief that the previous series was to be its last.
This episode will see John Luther drawn into solving a bizarre case involving a cannibal serial killer.
Elba said of the last series: “There were some unanswered questions”. He also stated recently that neither he nor Neil Cross were “satisfied with the ending of the last one”.
Pitted against his most chilling adversary yet, haunted by the ghosts of his past and hell-bent on retribution, Luther’s drawn into a terrifyingly complex case that pushes him closer to the edge than he’s ever been. Yes, Luther certainly is back and you’ll be bonkers to miss this special treat.
