A main route through North Manchester is being improved as part of an £8m scheme. The northbound stretch of Broadway, from Nuthurst Road to Moston Lane is to be resurfaced this week, improving safety on the main route that is used by nearly 19,000 vehicles each day. Work began on The 24th of October, and the road will be reopened on the 1st of November.
Improvements are also planned for a three-mile stretch of Stockport Road, from Devonshire Street in Ardwick to Lloyd Road in Levenshulme, a three-mile stretch of Hyde Road, from Ardwick roundabout to Kingsdale Road in Gorton. Other routes across the city will be reinvigorated including parts of South Manchester, stretches of Palatine Road for example.
Manchester City Council’s executive member for the environment Kate Chappell said “These are some of the busiest routes in the city, and they are also roads which we receive large numbers of complaints about. We need real investments in our roads”.
