A 62-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a man in Ancoats and is now being questioned by police, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has confirmed.
Shortly before 8pm on Saturday 25 June police were called by the Ambulance Service to an address in Victoria Square in Ancoats.
The body of a man in his fifties, who has not yet been named, was found with injuries suggesting a serious assault had occurred. Police are now conducting an investigation of the circumstances surrounding the assault and how the man died.
Although GMP is still appealing for more witnesses, Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Daniels from the Serious Crime Division said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of this man at this devastating time.
“We are determined to find out how the man died and the circumstances surrounding his death.
