Man arrested after shots fired in Gorton

A man has been arrested after shots were fired at a house in Gorton.

Police were called to Sutton Road at 12.20am on Tuesday 21 March 2017. They responded to reports of shots being fired at a property on the street.

According to reports, a hooded man arrived on the street in a silver VW Golf. He approached the house and fired a handgun at the window.

A woman and a child were inside at the time but fortunately neither were injured.

On Wednesday 5 April 2017, a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences. He has since been released under investigation.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who was in the Sutton Road area at around midnight to get in touch.

Anyone who saw a black or silver VW Golf, a silver Peugeot 106, is urged to get in touch. Other cars that may have been seen and are vital to the investigation include a Toyota Aygo and Citroen C1.

Detective Inspector Muz Kernain, of GMP’s City of Manchester team, said: “We are continuing our investigation and are appealing to anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the incident to get in touch. You may have information vital to our investigation.

“We are keen to speak with the driver of or anyone who has knowledge of a black BMW X3 car that was on or near Sutton Rd during these times”.
