Greater Manchester Police (GMP) is investigating after a man was attacked with a bladed weapon in north Manchester.
On Thursday 18 August 2016, shortly before 10.20am, police were called by the ambulance service to Moston Lane East, Moston to reports that a 22-year-old man had been seriously assaulted.
It is believed that the man had been attacked somewhere nearby with a bladed weapon, possibly a machete or a meat cleaver, before walking to Moston Lane East and requesting assistance.
The victim sustained very serious hand injuries during the attack and remains in hospital for treatment.
Police are currently working to identify exactly where the incident took place.
Detective Sergeant John Yates of GMP’s City of Manchester team said: “The full details of exactly what happened and where this incident took place are somewhat unclear but we are working to establish the full circumstances.
“There is a man currently in hospital receiving treatment for some very serious injuries and he may be there for some time.
“If anybody thinks they may have witnessed this incident or have information that they believe can assist us then I would ask that they contact police immediately”.
