On Saturday 3 September 2016, a 33-year-old woman was the victim of a shooting in Middleton.
At around 1.55am, the incident was reported to the police, who found that the woman had leg wounds. She has been treated in hospital and is stable at this stage.
The weapon, a handgun, was recovered and linked to 28-year-old Lewis Bishop. He was arrested and questioned by police shortly after the incident.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) Detective Inspector, Lee Hopwood, released a statement stating, “I understand that an incident like this will cause concern and I want to reassure the community that we have increased patrols in the area”.
Bishop has since been charged with both the possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence, plus the attempted murder of the victim.
The offender has appeared at Bury Magistrates Court, but his sentence is yet to be released.
