A man is fighting for his life following a stabbing which occurred in Stockport.
Shortly after 9am on 7 April 2017, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) was alerted that a man had been stabbed. The 35-year-old man received a serious stab wound to his leg. He is currently in a critical condition.
Officers investigating the incident have established where the stabbing occurred. The stabbing took place near to the Salisbury Club on Truro Avenue in Brinnington.
GMP’s Julia Bowden said GMP is doing “everything” they can to work out exactly what happened.
Detectives are currently trawling through CCTV footage whilst forensic officers comb the area.
GMP believes that people would have been in the area at the time. Bowden said it is possible that residents may have seen or heard something. Residents many not have realised the nature of the incident.
GMP has been knocking on doors. Those with information are urged to contact police. “Even if you think it’s nothing, it could help us uncover who did this and why”.
“We understand there may be concerns in the community but I want to stress that we are doing everything in our power to find the person responsible”.
Members of the community will see extra officers in the area. These officers should be approached if anyone has any concerns.
